26 Blacktailed Godwits drop in on the morning tide,also 1 Greenshank, 108 Redshank, 44 Ringed Plover and c.30 Dunlin plus 2 Heron, 2 Cormorant and a Buzzard.

Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Firecrest
Firecrest in hedge by car park, 2 lesser whitethroat, 2 common whitethroat, 3 willow warblers, 3 chiffchaffs, 1 reed warbler, 1 blackcap, c350 dunlin, c400 bh gulls, c140 ringed plover, 2 lrp, 1 common sand, 2 greenshank, 1 knot, 1 grey plover, c60 teal, 12 yellow wags, 1 grey wag over, Darryl had a tree pipit flight call, also tufty hybridy thing.

Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Goshawk
Also from Goldcliff yesterday 9 swift passing through. Elsewhere in the GOS area today was a juvenile female goshawk which was a lovely surprise flying at tree top level.

Peterstone Gout to the Church.

Main Sighting: Rooks
66 Curlew, 2 Whimbrel,47 Redshank,c.50 Lapwing, 4 Common Sandpiper (NG), 4 Heron, 4 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Sparrow Hawk, c.80 Crows, 3 Rooks, a feeding population of c.80 House Martins and Swallows over the Marsh also with small passage SW of the same. Yesterday a party of 25 to 30 Swifts at 5pm feeding in front of heavy clouds and today groups of 19 and 8, all moving NE, plus 2 juv Whitethroat and 2 Willow Warblers. Additionally via Nigel: Redstart,Spotted Flycatcher, Wheatear, 4 Reed Warbler, 2 Willow Warbler, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Whitethroat, 5 Little Egret.

Newport Wetlands Goldcliff

Main Sighting: Lesser Whitethroat
Dunlin 200 Ringed Plover 50 Little Ringed Plover 3 Greenshank 3 Snipe 2 Redshank 20 Lapwing 40 Goldfinch 40 Just prior to leaving a cold wet blustery reserve the sun shone and we added Lesser Whitethroat Yellow Wagtail Marsh Harrier juv and Swift 5 to the days list along with Southern Hawker Dragonfly.
