Llandegfedd Reservoir

Main Sighting:
Llandegfedd Reservoir today. G.N.Diver well hidden from dam end at 2pm, but showed towards dusk as it move out to centre of Res. for evening. Two - Michahellis - Yellow-legged Gulls loafing together at 2.30 between Bert Hamar Hide (NW shore) and north car park, stayed to roost amonst some 300 LB-b Gulls and a handful of Herring. Much greater numbers of Herring Gulls arrived after 4pm in very poor light. NO Med. or GB-b Gulls seen. At least 20 Goosander in NE corner by 4.15pm with some 250-300 Lapwing in almost constant flight. NOTE: North Car park is locked for the season but room to park on grassy side of road (keep two wheels on the tarmac)just outside gate.

Peterstone

Main Sighting:
Late morning (11.15am) Friday 27th November. There'ss a tristis (Siberian) Chiffchaff (3rd county record as far as I know) in the willows bordering Outfall Lane, Peterstone. It was kicking around in the last large willow on the left side of the track and showing down to a few feet.

Llandegfedd Reservoir

Main Sighting:
Saturday 13th October: 2 Black Terns and 1 Arctic Tern still present at Llandegfedd Reservoir until midday. When not flying round the reservoir, they tended to perch on the buoys on either side of the fish farm.

Llandegfedd Reservoir

Main Sighting:
At Llandegfedd on Thursday (28th), 1 Greenshank, 2 Common Sands, 4 Pintail, 4 Snipe Peterstone yesterday had 3 Curlew Sands, a single Grey Plover, and the usual selection of dabbling ducks and other waders. Plus a Peregrine.I am still waiting to see ANY shearwaters, terns, skuas,on the coast (call this a autumn passage?!

Llandegfedd Res. from north car park (SO 331 006) - Fri 14 Sept Gulls: Lesser Black-backed x 100'ss, Herring x 10'ss, Yellow-legeged x 1, Mediterranean (adult) x 1 amongst Black-headed x 1000 and Common x 10'ss. Large numbers of Great Crested Grebe with some young birds

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
Goldcliff Lagoons - Sat 15th Sept. evening high tide Stints 4 juv, Curlew Sand. 7 juv, Grey Plover 10, Bar-tailed Godwit 3, Ruff 3 min, Greenshank 2, Redshank 2, Knot, Black-tailed Godwit, Snipe, relatively low numbers of Dunlin and Ringed Plover but increasing Lapwing and Wigeon. Note: access point is off east/west B road at ST 369 829, following start of track shown as a Bridleway on 1:50,000 OS maps.
