Main Sighting: Bluethroat
Bluethroat Ringed and released by the Goldcliff ringing group early AM in an area with no access to the public, bird flew into reedbeds.

Upland Forest in Eastern Gwent

Main Sighting: Crossbill
Looks like the local colony has do e well with 18 birds nr. the breeding area made up if 6 juvs and male and female adults ..Photographs of a few birds later on the FB page .

Red Barn Hide

Main Sighting: Egyptian goose
Few hours at the hide but no sign of the glossy ibis. Of note however 1 Egyptian goose 1 chiffchaff (contact call) 56 wigeon 1 cettis calling 13 nite swans 6 teal 3 herons 1 egret 5 lt grebe fem stonechat 1 snipe 3 gadwall 15 lapwing and 2 stock doves.

Goldcliff

Main Sighting: Various
Red Barn sightings were from today not Wednesday. Leaving Goldcliff in the ploughed/fertilized field on the left 31 pied wagtails 4 mistle thrushe 2 stock doves 6 linnets 1 buzzard and 5 lt egrets. 21 collard doves around the nearby farm buildings.

Uskmouth

Main Sighting: Marsh Harrier
Seen from the path going towards the first screens a male Marsh Harrier quartering reed beds close to the hide and later over the sea wall heading towards Goldcliff. Several pairs of Stonechats spread evenly around the site. A flock of 5 Bearded Tits in dispersal flight, seen twice. Shoveler, Mallard, Little Grebe on the lagoon on the left at the power station end. No birds visible from the hide but the Marsh Harrier had put some up previously. Cetti's Warblers calling across the site and seen by the short pontoon. Water Rails calling in various locations.
