Pen-y-Fan Pond

Main Sighting: Kingfisher
Kingfisher on the pond along with two Black-headed Gulls (the first of autumn). Flocks of Meadow Pipits and Goldfinches in adjacent meadows and scrub. Swallows gone.

Cobblers Plain Devauden

Main Sighting: Partridge
Sightings while working on Electricity poles between Devauden & llanishen nr Little Crumb;land. 1 Red Kite following plough 12 Buzzards catching the Star Hill thermals. 1 Grey partridge ( First for a while ) 8 Red Legged partridge Female Goshawk . Sparrowhawk male.flock of 12 Mistle Thrush 2 Meadow pipits All when I should have been doing work. Managed a few shots of the Kite and Buzzards.

Rudry Common

Main Sighting: Redpoll
A very damp morning on Rudry Common saw a large mixed flock of tits in the pond area, with just one treecreeepr and one goldcrest, but no warblers. A small number of siskin were also present in that area. A very mobile flock of around 30 redpoll was moving around the western side of the hill.
