Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Little Stint
5 Little Stint, 3 Greenshank, 40 B.T.Godwits, 3 Wheatear, 3 Yellow Wagtails, White Wagtail, Ruff, 30 Curlew, Peregrine on the mudflats, Kestrel, Buzzard and distant Marsh Harrier. 200 plus Meadow Pipits, Kingfisher, 20 plus Swallows, Little Egret, and a couple of Wigeon, 30 plus Linnets

NWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting: Golden Plover
A productive day at Goldcliff with 42 species noted. The highlights being seven Little Stint and a single Golden Plover, the latter from the sea wall hide. Other species noted were: Canada Geese, Shelduck, Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Shoveler, Cormorant, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Kestrel, Moorhen, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Dunlin, Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Spotted Redshank, Redshank, Greenshank, Black-headed Gull, Woodpigeon, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, 3+ Stonechat, 3+ Wheatear, Cettis Warbler, Chiffchaff, Blue Tit, Magpie, Jackdaw, Carrion Crow, Starling and Goldfinch

Main Sighting: Common buzzard
7 circling at one point, grey heron perched in a tree preening, several swallows, skien of Canada geese heading towards Caerphilly castle moat and numerous red admirals and small tortoiseshell and 1 comma. Migrant hawker visiting the pond.

Llandegfedd Reservoir

Main Sighting: Osprey
Juvenile Osprey (unringed) perched in the dead tree on the shore opposite the visitor centre at 6.00 pm until chased off by a Grey Heron - flew to another perch further back in the woods. Red Kite over nearby.

Peterstone Gout

Main Sighting: Various
An East to SE breeze brought heavy low misty cloud rolling in. Swallows were moving up the coast at 50+ per hour through the morning. A flock of c.50 Greenfinches dropped in for a few minutes. Shelduck 265, Pintail 134, Mallard 60+, Wigeon 45, Teal 10, Redshank 68, Dunlin 12, Turnstone 2, Heron 1, Lgrt 2, Cormarant, Kestrel, resident Goldfinch flock c.30. A few white butterflies SW and a few bees NE.
