Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Whimbrel
Just managed a whimbrel and juv redstart after TC and DS left but seawatch produced nothing! Also of interest 1 knot, 49 blackwit, 1 med gull, 2 common gulls, 1 common sand, 14 turnstone, 240 dunlin, 10 Ringed Plover, 4 lrp, 10 curlew, 2 pintail, 11 teal, shoveler and a male sprarrowhawk.

Golfcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Sand martins
Just over1000 birds sat on dry mud opposite hide 1 moved off before 8am lovely spectacle. Also of note moorhen with chicks 1 common whitethroat 1 blackcap reed warbler singing 310 dunlin 36 lapwing 25 ringed plovers 6 little ringed plover 2 stick doves 2 herons 81 common redshanks 1 red legged partridge calling from the fields peregrine calling pheasant 49 black tailed godwits 2 common snipe 1 egret 1 knot male sanderlung in breeding plumage common buzzards 43 curlew 6 oystercatchers fem kestrel hunting 4 teal fem sparrowhaek carrying small bird green woodpecker and yellow wagtail.

Walked along the Rhymney river this afternoon,dippers are a common sight now one sees them every day.Also seen kingfisher,grey Wagtail, Swallow, House Martin, grey heron,greatit,buzzard,dunnock.

Llandegfedd Reservoir

Main Sighting: Osprey
Osprey still present, mainly seen fishing from the dam in the early hours (5:30-6am). 4 Common Sand, 4 LRP, 1 Redshank (on dam). Single Hobby feeding high over the water around 8:30pm this evening also. Plenty of Swifts / Swallows moving back north today :'(
