Goetre Wood

Main Sighting:
Returning from official opening of Goetre Wood, noticed a Heron in the pond in the field opposite the wood. Whilst watching the Heron, it took two/three wingbeats, then with beak and feet entering the pond together caught an eel of significant size in fairly deep water,(body, part submerged). When Heron regained bank and upright the eel caught at the head was close to touching the ground - 18-24's's? Is this the 'sDiving Heron's reported earlier this year along the canal?
