Raglan Area

Main Sighting:
@ 1600hrs: Poss. 2nd winter Med. Gull in ploughed field @ 1 mile W. of Penrhos (I arrived just at the end of ploughing, bird popped up once, tractor finished, birds settled down, most of field out of sight.) Also there 500+ mixed LB-b, B-h, Common and Herring gulls, several Buzzards, Kestrel and a few Skylarks. Ange saw prob. Hobby as we pulled up, I couldn'st confirm - too slow out of car! @ 1430 hrs small movement E. of at least 8 Barn Swallows - Devauden. Several parties of Redwings and Mistle Thrushes seen between there and Wernyrheolydd (60+ of each in total). Also 4+ Kestrels. Thursday and Friday evening Barn Owl present at Wernyrheolydd.

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
Saturday 8.00am. Influx of grey plovers on the lagoons accompanied by numbers of knot and dunlin. Only 2 BT 'swits. Other species included 2 winchats, kingfisher and my hi-light, a tree sparrow.

Peterstone Wentlooge

Main Sighting:
Visited Peterstone Wentlooge this morning, catching the tide. Walked from the Pill, and gout, down the coast to the village. A good variety of stuff including: 1 Great Crested Grebe on the sea, 3 Little Grebe on the Gout, and a further 3 on the Pill near Marshfield. 10 Cormorant, 40 Shelduck, 349 Mallard, 146 Wigeon, 60 Pintail, 24 Shoveler, 1 Kestrel, 3 Coot on the Gout, 128 Lapwing, 12 Grey Plover, 1 Ringed Plover, 3 Oystercatcher, 90 Black Tailed Godwit, 87 Curlew, 1 Whimbrel, 34 Dunlin, 375 Black Headed Gull, 1 House Martin, 15 Pied Wagtail, 14 Meadow Meadow Pipit, and 16 Goldfinch.); insert into sightings values (
