Main Sighting:
Visited Goldcliff this morning at high tide (11.9.03). Fairly quiet with 6 Grey Heron, 4 Little Egret, 3 Shelduck, 12 Mallard, 22 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 1 Buzzard, 5 Lapwing, 4 Ringed Plover, 6 Oystercatchers, 116 Black Tailed Godwits, 13 Bar Tailed Godwits, 6 Greenshanks, 30 Common Redshanks, 1 Ruff, 60 Dunlin, 240 Knot, 140 Black Headed Gulls, 5 House Martin, 33 Swallow, and 1 Common Whitethroat.

Main Sighting:
Visited Uskmouth early morning (10.9.03) to catch the tide. Walked from Power Station, around the lagoons, up Farmfield Lane, completing at Goldcliff road. Noted: 10 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 6 Grey Heron, 5 Little Egret, 17 Mute Swan, 104 Mallard, 8 Teal, 33 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 1 Water Rail, 22 Moorhen, 28 Coot, 3 Greenshanks, 13 Curlew, 1 Pheasant, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Raven, Cetti'ss Warblers, in song again with 7 singing, also 5 Chaffchaff in song, and 1 singing Reed Warbler. Also 1 Sand Martin, 12 Swallow, 8 House Martin, and 26 Goldfinch.

Main Sighting:
Gwent levels, Tuesday, 9 Sept 2003 - morning. At Goldcliff end: 9 Little Egret, numerous Godwits, both types, Greenshank very close to first platform. Many mallard and teal, curlew and large flocks of goldfinch. At the powerstation end, 2 more Little Egret, loads more goldfinches, 2 kingfishers, chiffchaff, sedge warbler, buzzard, kestrel and a peregrin which perched with its prey on a pylon only to be mobbed by a gang of magpies until it got fed up and flew off towards Peterstone

Main Sighting:
Walked from Peterstone village to the gout yesterday (.6.9.03). two hours after high tide. Amongst the birds seen 2 Little Grebe, 2 Little Egret, 7 Shelduck, 60 Wigeon, 33 Teal, 134 Mallard, 2 Lapwing, 4 Golden Plover, 2 Oystercatchers, 90 Dunlin, 1 Ruff, 32 Common Redshanks, 6 Curlew, 299 Black Headed Gull, and 1 White Wagtail.

Walked around Llandegfedd Reservoir today (4.9.03, among the birds present; 60 Great Crested Grebe, 37 Cormorant, 7 Grey Heron, 4 Little Egret, 62 Canada Geese, 3 Snow Geese, 20 Mallard, 4 Buzzard, 5 Moorhen, 5 Coot, 23 Lapwing, 1 Greenshanks, 1 Ruff, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Great Black Backed Gull, 110 Lesser Black Backed Gull, 38 Herring Gull, 220 Black Headed Gull, 5 Kingfisher (including 1 young bird begging for food), 1 Pheasant, 1 Green Woodpecker, 14 Swallow 46 House Martin, 13 Pied Wagtail, 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler, 1 singing Garden Warbler, 1 Fieldfare, 21 Long Tailed Tit, 2 Nuthatch, 4 Jay, and 3 Raven.
