Newbridge

Main Sighting:
21/06/03 While waiting for my children to finish swimming I noticed a single cormorant drying its wings on top of one of the floodlights near the Trecelyn Viaduct Newbridge. Also I seen a single cormorant flying south along the sirhowy river north of the Rock&Fountain pub Blackwood. During last Autumn I also observed three gooseander on the same river.

GLWR Uskmouth

Main Sighting:
covered from uskmouth to saltmarsh lane then goldcliff lagoons,no sign of spoonbills. Good mumbers of L.R.P.(goldcliff and saltmarsh),Little egrets(small no'ss at all sites) , cettis warblers seemingly every where in suitable habitat, also one briefly flying down lane in front of bike.The avocets remain at goldcliff also one black tailed godwit,one dunlin.

3 Spoonbill at Goldcliff lagoons early am on Sunday(22-06-03)which flew off after being disturbed by the farmer rounding up the sheep.

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
Visited Goldcliff this morning at high tide (16.6.03), a glorious day with ten different waders: 35 Lapwing, 11 Ringed Plover, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Turnstone, 11 Common Redshanks, 16 Dunlin, 1 Avocet, 2 Black Tailed Godwits, 2 adult with 4 young Oystercatchers, and a single Curlew Sandpiper. Also 3 Grey Heron, 5 Little Egrets, 2 Mute Swan, 36 Shelduck, 103, and 4 fl Mallard, 2 Gadwall, 5 Moorhen, 23 Coot, 40 Black Headed Gull, 2 Reed Warbler, 2 Sedge Warbler, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 1 Common Whitethroat, 1 male Bullfinch. ); insert into sightings values (
