Main sighting: Wild fowl

On the flood plain 27 Mute swan 82 Canada Geese 200 mixed gulls including bh hg and 3 gbb 2 barnacle geese and overlying cormorant and Peregrine Falcon .

Main sighting: Godwits

Brief visit this morning from 8am as the rain continued. Not much seen in the hour I was there apart from 125 Black-tailed Godwits with 22 Dunlin mixed in, Shelduck, Curlew, 2 Shoveler and plenty of Redwings and Filedfares along the hedgerows and a Cettis heard.

Main sighting: Goldeneye

First Goldeneye of the winter on the river. Also L Egret, L Grebe, 2 Goosander and c800 Starlings with Fieldfare and Redwing.

Main sighting: Short-eared Owl

A single owl appeared at 16.50 in near-darkness. Red Grouse called. Earlier, Kestrel and Stonechat.

Main sighting: Goosander

1 male 2 F/m Goosander by F/St .fm on bank m and f/m in shallows swimming around after approx 20mins all 3 swam up river out of sight,also seen flying around 1 grey wagtail and 2 pied wagtail,Jackdaws starting to fly to roost presume tredegar park woodland

Main sighting: 13 goosander.

60 plus canada geese/one great crested grebe/12 tufted duck and numerous mallard.

Main sighting: Hen Harrier

Male Hen Harrier hunting near the Lonely Shepherd (above the fog). Two Meadow Pipits on the moor. At dusk, two Woodcock up over Hafod Farm from Clydach Gorge.

Main sighting: Black Redstart

Dawn visit. Monks Lagoon had large flock of waders – Curlews, Black Tailed Godwits, Knots and smaller waders possibly waders. They flew off into the gloom. Two Marsh Harriers seen over the pill. A female Marshy quartered the lagoons on several occasions.
Possible Spotted Redshank observed.
On the sea wall the Black Redstart seen by Nev Davies on Saturday was showing again regularly feeding with Stonechats, Pied Wagtails and a Wren.
Barnacle Geese seen out on the Saltmarsh with Canadas.
A flock of Avocet were feeding on the foreshore.
