Main sighting: Osprey

Osprey on telegraph pole.
Sighting by a non-member (Matt Gould) who requested confirmation of identification before submitting the record. Confirmed by photo supplied to Steve Butler. Bird had a GPS transmitter attached as small aerial can be seen on its back.

Main sighting: Nightjar

Nightjar heard churring at 23.25 from garden in The Narth some distance away in direction of Beacon Hill..

Main sighting: Eurasion Sparrow Hawk

The hawk swooped on a sparrow on our bird table and defeathered it in our back garden.
I have a photograph of it.

Main sighting: Kingfisher

Daily walk: Kingfisher 2 Grey Wagtail 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull circa 74 nests Herring Gull 9 nests Blackcap 4 singing.
Bedwas garden Painted Lady butterfly 2

Main sighting: Kingfisher

Wye: 30 sand Martins, 2 reed bunting grey wagtail, heron, kingfisher diving, raven, chiffchaff, blackcap. Also 5 large chub showing under rail bridge.
Monnow : 40 sand Martins investigating wall crevices, grey wagtail, blackcap, green woodpecker 5 swifts. Several shoals of small chub.

Main sighting: Cuckoo

Cuckoo calling at about 5.30 this afternoon, close to foot of the mountain near Upper Cwmbran.

Main sighting: Red-legged Partridge

2 (presumed pair) on road to Skenfrith. This species sometimes seen in our garden.

Six Swifts flying over the garden were the first of the year for us. Also, House Martin Blackcap .

6 Swifts screaming overhead. Only 6. 2 juvenile Blackbirds in the garden the last few days.

Main sighting: Wood Warblers

10 singing Wood Warblers along cycle track and 1 Whitethroat at Garn Lakes

Main sighting: Redstart

Multiple sightings in garden area – seems to like the wing-mirror as surveying point.
