Main sighting: med gull Ad
After doing some gardening sat down on the balcony to cool down raised my bins at an approaching gull which turned out to be an Ad Med gull. Also 58 Mallard

Main sighting: Green Sandpiper
Updates for Nev Davies post. Firstly an amendment – the Hobby was a Peregrine – checked after review of my pics. Secondly we also saw a Green Sandpiper. John Lawton will have some nice videos.

Main sighting: Black Swan
Buzzard 1, curlew 14, heron 4 (2 juvs), cettis calling, lapwing 85, shelduck, reed warbler 1 singing, gt b b gull 2 (adult and 2nd yr bird), spoonbill 2 (left around 8am), lt egret family group of 5 together and 2 separate adults elsewhere, gadwall 10, mute swan 8, redshanks 23, ringled plover 10, black-tailed godwit 318, black swan 1, yellow wagtail 2 calling, sand martin 67, swallow 97, knot 4 (1 in full breeding plumage), dunlin only 8, wigeon 1 fem, water rail squealing. Joined at this point by Blair Jones and John Lawton – shoveler 2, kestrel hovering, glossy ibis showing well from snipe platform then went onto the mudflats to feed before returning to the lagoons, common sandpiper 1, lt grebe 1 juv, kingfisher (showed twice), chiffchaff 2 (contact calls), tufted duck 1, hobby over briefly, whimbrel (1 on mudflats), greenshank 1, redstart (on hedge leading to sea wall) and whitethroat 1. Lepidoptera: numerous meadow browns and fresh gatekeepers, small tortoiseshell 1, red admiral 1, large skipper 1, small white 2.

2 Spoonbills still present, 3 Common Sandpipers and 2 Curlew on Monk’s and large numbers of Lapwing, Blackwits, Redshank etc all sheltering in the lee of the big reedbed at the far end of Prior’s with the Spoonbills

There were two Spoonbills on priors both sub adults also, Black-tailed Godwit 311 Dunlin 400 Knot 3 Little Egret 8 Mediterranean Gull 1 Kestrel 2 one caught a vole. Black-tailed Skimmer 6 Blue-tailed Damselfly 1 Gatekeeper 6 and Meadow Brown lots.
